UQWorld: the online uncertainty quantification community

With the remarkable success of the UQLab project (external pagewww.uqlab.com), it quickly became clear that uncertainty quantification (UQ) is not a topic of interest only to a small community of dedicated researchers. On the contrary, virtually every field of science and engineering have recently faced the need to access advanced UQ tools and to incorporate them in their standard workflows.
While the more numerical/theoretical aspects of this need are covered by UQLab, no proper centralized/curated resource for UQ was available in 2019. With this in mind, we launched UQWorld (external pagewww.uqworld.org), an online community for uncertainty quantification external page[1].
Four years after its launch, with more than 450 registered users, 2’200 posts, and 16'000 monthly page views, the community is quickly growing and getting well established. It is by now a real resource for both newbies and seasoned experts that want to learn/share knowledge on everything that is UQ-related.
Mit dem bemerkenswerten Erfolg des UQLab-Projekts external page(www.uqlab.com) wurde schnell klar, dass die Ungewissheitsquantifizierung (UQ) nicht nur für eine kleine Gemeinschaft engagierter Forscher von Interesse ist. Im Gegenteil, praktisch jeder Bereich der Wissenschaft und Technik war in letzter Zeit mit der Notwendigkeit konfrontiert, auf fortschrittliche UQ-Werkzeuge zuzugreifen und diese in ihre Arbeitsabläufe zu integrieren.
Während die numerischen und theoretischen Aspekte dieses Bedarfs von UQLab gedeckt werden, war bis 2019 keine geeignete zentralisierte und kuratierte Ressource für UQ verfügbar. Vor diesem Hintergrund haben wir UQWorld (external pagewww.uqworld.org) gestartet, eine Online-Community für Ungewissheitsquantifizierung external page[1].
Zwei Jahre nach dem Start hat die Plattform bereits mehr als 400 registrierte Nutzer und fast 1'500 Posts. UQWorld ist inzwschen eine wichtige Ressource für Neulinge und erfahrene Experten, die Wissen über alles, was mit UQ zu tun hat, lernen oder teilen möchten.
