Wen Yao received her PhD degree of aerospace engineering from National University of Defense Technology (NUDT), P.R. China in December 2011. She is currently an associate professor at the College of Aerospace Science and Engineering, NUDT, China.
Her research interests include uncertainty quantification and reliability analysis under mixed epistemic and aleatory uncertainties based on Evidence Theory; reliability-based multidisciplinary design optimization (MDO) and its application to satellite system design.
Since April 2017, Prof. Yao is a visiting scholar at the Chair of Risk, Safety and Uncertainty Quantification. During her half-year visit at ETHZ, she will work on two topics: satellite manufacturing tolerance allocation and optimization; reliability and benefit-oriented satellite lifetime optimization under constrained mass, cost and time budget.
